Savayava Bhagya Yojane



Organic Village/Site Programme(Savayava Bhagya Yojane) is the first step to promote Organic Agriculture in the state of Karnataka, as per Karnataka State Policy on Organic Farming(2004). GREEN Foundaton has been selected as an Implementation Agency for Savayava Bhagya Yojane because of our extensive work and knowledge in Sustainable Agricultural Practices. The first Organic Village in Veerainandoddi in Kodihalli Hobli of Kanakapura Taluk was initiated in 2004-05 as a model organic site of 100 ha. With the success of the first initiative, the programme was extended to other Hoblis of each Taluka as shown in the table below:

Following activities are planned in each of the villages as part of this program:
• Establishment of Community Seed Bank
• Promotional materials on Organic Farming to be circulated inside the village
• Trainings and workshops on Organic Farming to the farmers
• Distribution of local varieties of seeds of food grains, green manure and fodder plants.
• Horticulture plant distribution
• Vermicompost pits
• Bio digester units
• ICS Organic Certification of the organic farmers
• Regular monthly meetings of the stake holders
• Documentation of the activities
